Effective opposition in the national interest

During the election Labour promised no tax rises on working people, and no additional taxes beyond those in their manifesto.

We left Government with the fastest growing economy in the G7, inflation at 2% and unemployment at 4.4%.

Labour cannot used “changed circumstances” to renege on their pledges and hike your taxes.

As His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition we will continue to hold Labour to account on their promises and stand up for taxpayers and working families.

The contents of the Government’s King’s Speech are important and will be scrutinised.

But just as important are the issues which matter to you that Labour have declined to seriously address.

Over 1000 migrants have illegally crossed the channel in small boats since Keir Starmer became Prime Minister.

Having scrapped the Rwanda plan on day one, he’s left our country with no credible deterrent just as the summer waters enable more crossings.

The world today is an increasingly uncertain world. There is an axis of authoritarian states who are a threat to our values.

By refusing to commit to spending 2.5% of GDP for defence by 2030, Labour are compromising our security and jeopardising our country’s leading role in NATO.

And despite how essential British farming is to our food security, Labour have refused to match our pledge to boost the UK-wide agriculture budget by £1 billion.

In fact, Labour have said nothing whatsoever about farming, fisheries and rural communities in their first King’s Speech.

As His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, we will continue to hold the Labour government to account on the promises they made to the British people, as well stand up for the values and priorities that you hold dear.
